Summer Internship Program Coordinator (Temporary Assignment)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Youth Programs and Services, the Summer Internship Program Coordinator will work closely with the Regional Program Directors to implement all aspects of the Summer Internship Program for high school students. This dynamic program places high school students in internships throughout the local community.

The Summer Internship Program Coordinator understands and assists in meeting budget and services goals, understands the mission and objectives of Jewish Family and Children’s Services and works within the limitations of the Agency’s resources, and performs all duties in compliance with agency standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitation of Teen/Parent/Supervisor orientations
  • Site visits to observe the interns, and recommendation of modifications to work assignments, supervision, and other relevant areas, as appropriate
  • Completes final evaluations with both the students and supervisors
  • Facilitates weekly educational workshops
  • Facilitates one service-learning event
  • Plans a meaningful Final Internship Ceremony
  • Completes administrative tasks and projects related to Summer Internship Program
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Youth Programs

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Two years experience working with youth
  • Knowledge of positive youth development programming and principles
  • High level of energy, good organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Jewish traditions, holidays, and customs
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with teens in a strength-based program
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications
