- Legacy Giving Stories
The Albert and Victoria Carsen and Etta Singer Memorial Fund provides direct and practical support for Bay Area seniors, helping to ensure that they are able to remain living safely and with dignity in their own homes for as long as possible.
Susan Carsen, a longtime JFCS friend, established this fund in loving memory of her parents, Victoria and Albert Carsen, and her maternal grandmother, Etta Singer.
Susan’s mother, Victoria, a native New Yorker, maintained season tickets to a variety of cultural events until her death. Her many friends ensured that Victoria was able to get to the shows, concerts, restaurants, and parties that she so enjoyed.
This wonderful circle of friends checked in frequently, picked up groceries and other necessities, and performed numerous other kindnesses, greatly easing Susan’s concerns about her mother’s remaining at home, as Victoria dearly wished, until the end of her life.
Because Victoria fought so determinedly to stay in her own home in spite of her age and disabilities, Susan created this memorial fund to support loving, expert care for other seniors in need of assistance, so they can live equally independent and fulfilling lives.
