Just around the corner from JFCS’ Shupin House in charming Laurel Heights, Gary’s Place welcomes those who are ready to move out of their family homes and take the first steps towards independence. Residents learn skills such as how to manage finances, keep a clean home, prepare meals, and navigate transportation and interpersonal relationships. The program also includes membership in the Shupin Social Club, a vibrant community of young adults with varying abilities who come together regularly for fun and educational social events.

As they build their independent living skills and create friendships, residents are also be part of a community of support that is there for them and their families for the long term. Through JFCS’ comprehensive Disabilities Services, individuals with disabilities and their families have access to case management, counseling, legal fiduciary services, and all the practical or emotional support that they need.
