Frank Stein and his life partner, Paul May, drove cross-country to San Francisco in the 1960s to seek their fortunes, knowing that they could live their lives more openly as a gay couple out west. In the years that followed they created an incredible life together and became successful businessmen and generous supporters.

From his humble beginnings in Brooklyn, New York, Frank understood firsthand how some families struggle. With a generous grant to JFCS’ Parents Place (now the JFCS Center for Children and Youth), his and Paul’s success helped parents, children, teens, and families get the tools and support they needed to be their best.

Frank Stein and Paul May were honored at JFCS’ Fammy Awards Gala in 2016:

JFCS’ Center for Children and Youth offers child and family counseling, parent education, specialized therapies, clinical services, social skills groups, and expert teams to support children so they can overcome obstacles to reach their full potential. The highly experienced staff includes licensed child psychologists, clinical social workers, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and parent educators who work holistically together.

Much has changed for LGBTQ families since the time Frank and Paul first fell in love. Their gift, given from the heart and later added to by a meaningful bequest, gave children and families the trusted, expert support necessary to thrive.
