Annual distributions from the Mae Mandl Scholarship Fund are used to ensure that young people traveling or studying in Israel have the opportunity to explore the country, its people, and their Jewish identity in greater depth, as Mae was able to on her own visits. The Auntie Irene Hannah Rubens Girls Can Be Anything Fund provides assistance—both financial and practical—to enable women, especially single mothers and women in transition, to fulfill their ambitions and establish careers. Emphasis is given to women who pursue nontraditional careers, providing opportunities that might otherwise be unavailable to them. The Segal Family Memorial Fund provides comprehensive and compassionate services for those who survived the Holocaust, offering direct financial and emotional support to victims now living in the Bay Area. The Elsie Ezekiel Memorial Scholarship Fund provides direct grants to elementary and high school students who apply to Jewish Family and Children’s Services for financial assistance to attend a Jewish day or high school in the Bay Area. Elsie Ezekiel’s nephews, Sol, Dan, and Ron Ezekiel, established this fund in 2004 in loving memory of their aunt.
