“Family Isn’t Singular—It’s Plural”: An Adoption Story

A family welcomes their newly adopted baby.

Some families are dreamed into being long before they take shape. From the earliest days of their relationship, Stephane and Marie shared a clear and heartfelt commitment to building their family through adoption. At JFCS’ Adoption Connection, we are grateful to have supported them as they welcomed their second child through adoption.

In her own words, Marie shares how adoption has shaped the heart of their family:

“From the beginning, adoption was part of our story.
From our second date to the day we said our vows,
welcoming souls was already our shared mission.
We dreamed of a home with open doors,
a table with extra chairs,
and hearts ready to embrace…
…whoever life brought our way.
Our adoption journey taught us one truth:
family isn’t singular—it’s plural.
Love is what binds it together.
And in a world that often forgets what love looks like,
we keep choosing it, through:
– every lunch box,
– every exhausting weekend,
– every whispered bedtime story.
Our family is a blend of cultures and colors—each one completing the others.
Love doesn’t divide
love multiplies.
And it’s beautiful.
That’s the story we’re honored to live and share—
chosen twice by strong, courageous women.”
