Samuel

Samuel, a very happy Shupin Social Club participant.

When the pandemic hit, Samuel was stuck at home, unable to get out and do anything—no work, no in-person social or recreation activities. The loss of connection left a void in his life. When his mom heard about Shupin Social Club from an online parent group, she immediately knew this was a solution for Samuel. “And the rest is history. I have new friends and good connections,” Samuel says with a giant smile.

JFCS ensures that adults with disabilities are served and receive connection, independence, support, and community. Expanded services now include hundreds of virtual activities and Special Connections, a quarterly skill-building workshop to meet someone romantically. In addition, Gary’s Place is a new addition to JFCS’ supportive housing, building on our neighborhood-based model of support, or urban kibbutz, in San Francisco.

Adults with disabilities and their families turn to JFCS to receive expert case management, counseling, social opportunities, and supportive housing. JFCS thanks the donors and community individuals who make this program possible.
