Director, Kosher Meals on Wheels

Seniors At Home offers a wide range of services to help older adults live safe, healthy, and independent lives, including home care, personal assistant services, companionship, and specialized dementia and palliative care. We provide the Bay Area’s leading continuum of care for aging adults.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Seniors At Home, the Director, Kosher Meals on Wheels is responsible for the leadership, administration, compliance, quality oversight, and daily operations of JFCS’ Kosher Meals on Wheels program. The Director ensures that eligible older adults and adults with disabilities receive nutritious, culturally responsive, kosher home-delivered meals in accordance with JFCS standards, contractual obligations, San Francisco Department of Disability and Aging Services requirements, California Department of Aging requirements, Title 22 regulations, Older Americans Act nutrition program standards, and all applicable city, state, federal, and grant requirements.
 
The Director oversees client eligibility and assessments, meal delivery logistics, driver supervision, vendor coordination, quality assurance, data tracking, reporting, and budget monitoring, while working collaboratively with Seniors At Home leadership, JFCS programs, community partners, funders, vendors, volunteers, and staff to ensure services are delivered safely, respectfully, and efficiently.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • Salary Range: $73,000-$78,000 (depending on experience)
  • Employment Type: full-time, exempt position with benefits

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides leadership and daily oversight of the Kosher Meals on Wheels program, ensuring effective operations, quality service, and compliance with applicable requirements
  • Oversees the delivery of kosher home-delivered meals to eligible older adults and adults with disabilities who are homebound, isolated, unable to shop or prepare meals, or otherwise meet program eligibility requirements
  • Maintains systems for referrals, eligibility, intake, meal orders, delivery routes, food safety and meal temperatures, service changes, staff training and nutrition education, client records, complaints, incidents, reassessments, and service termination
  • Ensures compliance with San Francisco Department of Disability and Aging Services, California Department of Aging, Title 22, Older Americans Act, contractual, grant, and JFCS requirements for home-delivered nutrition services
  • Conducts or oversees client intake, eligibility screening, initial in-home comprehensive assessments within required timelines, quarterly reassessments, annual assessments, nutrition risk screening, food insecurity screening, documentation, and nutrition education in accordance with DAS, CDA, Title 22, OAA, contract, and JFCS requirements
  • Supervises program drivers and assigned staff, including hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, coaching, performance management, and ongoing supervision
  • Ensures drivers meet program requirements, including a valid California driver’s license, clean driving record, appropriate interpersonal skills, ability to work respectfully with older adults and adults with disabilities, and required background clearances
  • Tracks program activity, meal counts, service units, referrals, client demographics, assessment completion, reassessment compliance, client satisfaction, complaints, incidents, and other key indicators
  • Supports JFCS’ Volunteer Services department in the San Francisco region with the JFCS High Holidays food drive program, including promotion, supply management, drop-off and pick up of bins; coordination of outreach and distribution of outreach materials

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, gerontology, aging services, food service management, human services, or a closely related field required
  • Minimum of two years of relevant professional experience aging services, home-delivered meals, social services, case management, nonprofit program administration, food service coordination, or a related field required
  • Experience supervising staff and managing day-to-day program operations required
  • Demonstrated ability to complete home-delivered meal intake, eligibility screening, comprehensive client assessments, reassessments, nutrition risk screening, documentation, and service planning in accordance with DAS, California Department of Aging, Title 22, Older Americans Act, contract, and JFCS requirements
  • Knowledge of older adults, adults with disabilities, food insecurity, home-delivered meal services, community-based aging services, and basic nutrition standards required
  • Ability to oversee vendor coordination and ensure meals meet applicable nutrition, kosher, food safety, delivery, and client service standards
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to use electronic client records, reporting systems, and other program-related technology
  • Valid California driver’s license, clean driving record, valid automobile insurance, and daily access to a reliable vehicle required; Ability to travel within JFCS service areas to conduct client assessments, monitor services, attend meetings, and fill in for meal delivery drivers as needed
  • Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends as assigned to support JFCS program needs
