What does tikkun olam (repairing the world) look like in action? Find out by spending two meaningful days in our state capitol with YouthFirst Peer Mental Health Advocates (PMHA) as we advocate in support of teen mental health. Together we’ll learn how to advocate, prepare, and raise our voices in support of a mental health or social media–related bill currently under consideration.
Pre-trip meetings:
Participants will take part in three required online prep sessions to understand the issues, build advocacy skills, and collaborate on a short video for a social media campaign. These sessions will take place on March 24, April 21, and May 5 from 7:30–8:30 pm. Zoom links will be shared after registration.
In-Person Advocacy in Sacramento:
For the trip itself, we’ll leave for Sacramento on Monday morning, May 11, to lobby as a delegation. Afterwards, we’ll join other teens and adults from across California at the JPAC (Jewish Public Affairs Committee of California) Conference. Our group will spend the night at the Hyatt in Sacramento, followed by another opportunity to continue our lobbying efforts alongside the broader Jewish community, and return on Tuesday, May 12.
