Our highly experienced professional staff includes licensed child psychologists, clinical social workers, and marriage and family therapists. We specialize in working with families and children who are experiencing significant changes, such as divorce, loss of a family member, or moving to a new home; difficulties with anger management; mood and anxiety disorders; depression; social isolation and interpersonal difficulties; school behavior problems, developmental delays and other challenges common to childhood and adolescence. We use a broad range of therapies to assist children and families and treatment is individualized to meet a family’s unique needs.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Child Therapist who will play an essential role in providing services in our Palo Alto region. Under the supervision of the Director of Children’s Clinical Services on the Peninsula, s/he will join a multi-disciplinary children’s team that includes licensed child psychologists, clinical social workers, occupational therapists, and speech therapists who work collaboratively to support children and families to achieve their highest potential. The position understands the mission and objectives of Jewish Family and Children’s Services and works to achieve JFCS financial and service goals in compliance with Agency standards for performance.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Director of Children’s Clinical Services on the Peninsula the child therapist provides the following services:
1. Conducts child/family evaluations and formulates goals and treatment plans using clinical expertise and standardized assessment measures.
2. Provides clinical consultation services to children, adolescents and their families in a responsive manner that takes into consideration the child’s total environment at home, in school and other significant settings.
3. Provides consultation to schools, as appropriate, with the goal of helping the child function at his or her highest level in the school or pre-school setting consistent with the treatment plan.
4. Facilitates support groups and educational programs for parents and children, as appropriate.
5. Provides treatment to assigned children and families, in accordance with Agency standard for problem-focused treatment.
6. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to best meet the needs of the child and family.
7. Completes administrative duties necessary to carry out clinical responsibilities in a timely fashion.
8. Participates in scheduled clinical supervision and staff meetings as requested.
9. Meets fee and service goals established in the annual work plan in areas assigned.
Job Qualifications:
• Licensed mental health professional (LCSW, MFT, Psy.D or Ph.D) with a minimum of three years post graduate experience.
• Specialized knowledge and demonstrated clinical experience in working with adolescents.
• Demonstrated experience working in a variety of clinician modalities tailored to meet the needs of a particular child, including: individual, family, and group therapies, child-parent psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, attachment-based and trauma-specific treatment, social learning, and sand tray therapy.
• Experience working within an interdisciplinary team setting and commitment to working as a team player.
• Desire to work in a social service setting required. Commitment to and enthusiasm for the mission, goals, and objectives of the Agency.
• Superior organizational/project management skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and complete projects with a minimum amount of direct supervision.
• Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office software programs.
