Established Named Funds
Listed here are the many named funds established at JFCS. Often set up in memory of a loved one or to commemorate a special occasion or call attention to a cause close to one’s heart, JFCS named funds are lasting tributes that provide critical services to the community – now and forever. Sam Abecassis Youth Scholarship Fund for San Francisco and Peninsula young people attending Jewish camps or other youth events. Funded by the Vincent V.C. Woo Memorial Foundation and advised by Clara Abecassis and Joel Susal.
Abel & Co. Fund for senior services on the Peninsula. Established by Reba Cohen in honor of her late father, Abe, and her mother, Belle.

George Altshuler Endowment Fund for Jewish Families. Established by Michael Altshuler to celebrate his father’s 95th birthday.

Arend-Wilkins Memorial Endowment for youth education and to help others help themselves. Established by Ruth and Lloyd Wilkins in memory of Mela, Egon, and Richard Arend, and Fern Wilkins.
Lisa Bayne Astor Endowment Fund for use where most needed.
Gita & Henry Baigelman Holocaust Education Fund. Established by Riva and David Berelson in memory of Riva’s parents, both Holocaust survivors, to increase tolerance and eliminate anti-Semitism.

Sara Brest Endowment Fund for needy families and children. Established through a generous bequest to JFCS.
