English Conversation Group Leaders

JFCS is looking for group facilitators for three English conversation and discussion groups. Two for intermediate to advanced English-language learners and one for beginning to intermediate English speakers, all from the former Soviet Union. Facilitate a lively group of committed senior emigres who enjoy language practice and need this community resource.

Palo Alto Group Leaders needed on:

Thursdays, 10:30 am to 12:00 pm (No Russian language skills required!)
Fridays, 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm (No Russian language skills required!)

San Mateo Group Leader needed on:
Wednesdays, 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm (Ability to speak Russian required)

Citizenship Class Leader

Help refugees and immigrants from the former Soviet Union prepare for their naturalization exams! During this class, participants will learn about U.S. civics and history, answer questions about their personal history, and pass a test of English language comprehension. (Training will be provided and ability to speak Russian is required.)

Fridays, 10:30 am to 12:00 pm (in Palo Alto)

(The days and times of the classes are flexible. Classes must be during daytime hours.)

You can also volunteer to help translate written materials or interpret at appointments for emigres who need legal assistance or mental health services.
