Under the supervision of the Associate Executive Director, the Child Psychiatrist provides consultation to the CCY clinical team and assessment, treatment planning and intervention as assigned to children in the CCY clinical program. The child psychiatrist understands the agency’s mission, goals and objectives and works within the agency’s resources.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Serves in a consulting role to clinical directors, therapists, parent consultants and trainees in clinical care; provide case consultation as needed. As a member of the interdisciplinary team, contributes to understanding of children and families,
- Provides clinical and pharmacological evaluation of children and youth at JFCS outpatient clinics and/or via telehealth. Recommends treatment plans to families and community pediatricians and coordinates psychiatric services with client families and multidisciplinary care team providers;
- As assigned, conducts evaluations, develops and implements treatment plans and goals, provides progress assessments; review/approve disposition of cases. Based on the treatment plan, provides ongoing medication management as appropriate.
- Develops and maintains administrative and treatment documentation and records related to client care, in accordance to standards specified by agency’s policies, clinical standards, and funding source.
- Participates in quality assurance and peer reviews, procedural and clinical services meetings as assigned.
- Actively participate in JFCS and departmental meetings and trainings and represent the CCY Program in a professional demeanor.
- Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among JFCS staff that allows for cultivating ideas, expeditious resolution of conflict, and the appreciation of diversity as well as cohesiveness, supportiveness, and working together to enable each employee and the department to succeed.
- Deliver timely and accurate results. Value the importance of delivering high quality, innovative services to JFCS employees and clients, respond promptly to inquiries and is accessible to JFCS employees and clients.
- Maintain client privacy and confidentiality.
- Complies with the Jewish Family and Children’s Services Policy and Procedures Manual, as well as agency health and safety standards for clients, employees, and JFCS facilities.
- Undertakes other duties as assigned by the Associate Executive Director, and or the executive leadership.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of Jewish culture and community, as well as special community resources desirable.
- Be a licensed physician in good standing with state medical board. Valid California Medical License & DEA license.
- Board certified (or board-eligible) in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
- Maintain all appropriate licensure to prescribe and dispense medications under applicable state and federal laws.
Required Education and Experience
- Medical Doctorate degree from an accredited medical school.
- Successful completion of post-residence child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship training.
- Experience collaborating with families, schools, community providers, other service providers, and assigned clinicians, counselors, and/or interns/trainees in treatment of children.
