Associate Director, Center for Children and Youth (CCY)
Under the supervision of the Associate Executive Director, who is the acting Director of the Center for Children and Youth, the Associate Director of CCY guides the planning and implementation of all Parents Place parent education and support programs in a manner that is responsive to the needs of constituents of the Center for Children and Youth and within the parameters of the Agency’s resources. The Associate Director also serves as lead staff in the Director’s absence and oversees overall CCY business development and serves as liaison with the marketing department for all CCY activities.
The Associate Director, CCY participates as part of the leadership team of the Center for Children and Youth (CCY), ensuring that parent education and consultation is provided in collaboration with other CCY programming to meet division goals. The Associate Director understands the mission, goals, and objectives of Jewish Family and Children’s Services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees all parent educational and consultative services of Parents Place agency wide, ensuring that programs are of high quality and responsive to community needs and meet workplan and budget goals for all program areas.
- Serves as a key member of the CCY leadership team, working collaboratively with other program directors to ensure that strategic goals for the program are met. Actively participates in Parents Place, CCY and larger JFCS staff meetings and trainings
- Develops a business plan for CCY programs agency-wide to increase numbers reached, program impact and revenue generated.
- Acts as liaison between CCY and the marketing department, ensuring a coordinated approach to marketing all CCY programs and services. Insures responsive and effective marketing of all Parents Place educational and consultative programs, including outreach strategies and marketing materials, to meet department goals.
- Meets departmental fee and service goals as specified in the JFCS operating budget and work plan. Responsible for development of Parents Place budget. Monitors monthly Parents Place and Clinical financial reports and recommends corrective action, when appropriate.
- In conjunction with the Associate Director of Parents Place, oversees all aspects of staffing for Parents Place programs, including recruiting, training and supervising parent educators and workshop facilitators to deliver high-quality parent education workshops and parent consultation, assuring consistent standards.
- Develops and implements a multi-faceted community education programs for various constituents of Parents Place including agreements with schools, community organizations and workplaces to deliver parent workshops and teacher development trainings. Develops and monitors preschool consultation contracts, providing oversight of programming offered on site at preschools.
- Oversees the design of in-house and on-line parent education workshops, groups, and classes according to agency standards and in keeping with agency plan. Works collaboratively with the marketing department to expand the agency’s online presence.
- Works to develop new offerings for Jewish parenting program, in conjunction with other Jewish organizations, to build Jewish community and increase understanding of how Jewish values, traditions and customs can support child development and strengthen family life.
- In collaboration with other CCY staff, represents and presents CCY programs to the community, to increase support and to ensure that the community is aware of CCY as a resource.
- Writes or oversees development of articles about parenting and child development for CCY blog, parents’ clubs and other publications that serve families, as needed and appropriate.
- Supervises the CCY Administrative Director to ensure smooth operation of all CCY programs. Responsible for all CCY operations in the Associate Director of JFCS’s absence.
- Works in collaboration with development staff to identify and assist with the cultivation of potential donors.
- Complies with the Jewish Family and Children’s Services Policy and Procedures Manual and other standards of performance. Ensures that all documentation is entered on a timely by department staff and contractor and meets all agency standards.
- Undertakes other duties and special projects as may be assigned by the CCY Director, and JFCS Leadership.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proven knowledge and understanding of parent-child interactions, child development and the needs of parents, children, and teachers.
- Strong presentation skills and experience representing an agency in the community.
- Familiar with the Bay area Jewish community and Jewish traditions, culture, and values.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and to be flexible.
- Ability to be thorough, organized, and efficient.
- Interest in working in a social service setting.
- Must have a reliable mode of transportation to accomplish the essential functions of the job. If driving own vehicle, a valid driver’s license and proof of Automobile liability insurance is required.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required, Masters’ degree in field related to child development strongly preferred.
- Experienced with providing parent consultations or leading workshops for parents.
- Experience with outreach to organizations, schools, physicians or other related experience leading to business development.
- Experience with managing programs, including program development and operations and staff supervision.
