Kavod Crew

The Kavod Crew is the YouthFirst volunteer program for teens who would like to become more active in the Jewish community. There are monthly service learning events addressing the needs of diverse communities in San Francisco, the Peninsula, and Marin County. Activities include holiday outreach, visiting seniors, delivering meals to JFCS clients, and much more!

Here is the exciting line-up of Kavod Crew activities in some of our regions:

Peninsula

Sun., Oct. 14, 2012, 9:00 am – 12:30 pm
Harvest food with Village Harvest in Mountain View.

Wed., Nov. 28, 6:30 – 8:30 pm
Sort food at warehouse for Second Harvest Food Bank in San Carlos.

Sun., Jan. 20, 2013, 9:30 am – 12:00 pm
Prepare breakfast for families at Shelter Network in San Mateo.

Sun., Mar. 10, 2013, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Cook a meal for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House at Stanford.

Thurs., Mar. 14, 2013, 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Assemble Passover holiday bags for seniors.

Sun., June 9, 2013, 11:00 am – 3:00 pm
Help promote JFCS’ programs at Israel in the Gardens in San Francisco.

 

Marin

Sat., Dec. 1, 2012, 10:30 am – 2:30 pm
Observe World AIDS Day by volunteering at the AIDS Memorial Grove commemoration ceremony in San Francisco.

Sun., Jan. 13, 2013, 12:00 – 3:00 pm
Join JFCS and partnering organizations for Chicken Soupers, a program that provides hearty Jewish meals to San Franciscans living with AIDS, chronic illnesses, or disabilities.

Fri., Feb. 8, 2013, 6:30 – 9:00 pm
Host a musical Shabbat for seniors at The Redwoods.

Thurs., Mar. 14, 2013, 3:30 – 6:00 pm
Assemble and deliver Passover holiday bags for frail seniors, new emigres, people with disabilities, and families in need.

Tues., Mar. 19, 2013. 5:30 – 9:00 pm
Celebrate Passover by volunteering at the Jewish Community Relations Council’s Marin Interfaith Freedom seder. Dinner provided!

Sun., Apr. 14, 2013, (time TBD)
Celebrate Israeli culture by volunteering at the Osher Marin JCC’s Israel in Marin Festival.San Francisco

Wed., Oct. 17, 2012, after school – 8:00 pm
Assist at the Parents Place Preschool Preview Night.

Sun., Nov. 18, 2012, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Sort donations at the San Francisco Food Bank.

Tues., Dec. 4, 2012, 6:00 – 7:30 pm
Host a Hanukkah party for emigre seniors at Eden Villa Apartments.

Sun., Jan. 13, 2013, 9:30 am – 1:45 pm
Serve lunch to low-income people at St. Anthony’s.

Sun., Feb. 24, 2013, 12:00 – 4:00 pm
Host a Purim party for adults with disabilities at the JFCS Shupin Social Club.

Fri., Mar. 29, 2013, 11:00 am – 3:00 pm
Assist at the JFCS senior community Passover Seder.

Cook a meal for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House.
