Segal FamilyThe Segal Family Memorial Fund provides comprehensive and compassionate services for those who survived the Holocaust, offering direct financial and emotional support to victims now living in the Bay Area.

Former JFCS Board member Marion Weinreb, the child of Holocaust survivors, is a firm believer in “giving back.” She does this in a variety of ways, including through her multiple-named continuity funds at JFCS. Marion set up her third fund in spring 1997 in honor of her mother, Dina Segal Jacoud, and in loving memory of Dina’s family, none of whom Marion ever met.

Dina Segal’s parents, brothers and sisters, grandparents, and cousins all perished in the Holocaust, leaving her the sole survivor in her immediate family. Although Dina successfully rebuilt her life in the United States after liberation from Auschwitz, she never forgot those dear to her and passed on her love and her memories to her daughter, Marion.

The Segal Family Memorial Fund now helps ease the suffering of other survivors like Dina, providing home care, counseling, housing assistance, and other critical services as needed, while serving as a lasting memorial to those lost in the Holocaust but never forgotten.
