In the late 1800s, the forerunner to JFCS—the Eureka Benevolent Society—hosted fundraising galas that were the “social event of the year.” Ever since then, we have been blessed with a family of loyal supporters who come together throughout the year, at events big and small, to raise funds, introduce new friends to JFCS, have fun, and honor the work that we do to strengthen our community. We hope that you will join us at both events in 2011.
The Émigré Community Gala is Northern California’s largest event for Russian-speaking Jews and one of the largest annual events for the entire Jewish community of the San Francisco Bay Area. The 11th Annual Gala will take place Jan. 28, 2012, at San Francisco's Palace Hotel.
At last year's event, on Saturday evening, January, 29 2011, at San Francisco's Westin St. Francis Hotel, JFCS friends demonstrated their community spirit and raised funds for life-saving social services for people in need throughout the five Bay Area counties served by JFCS.
These services include emergency financial assistance, services for children with special needs, support for frail elderly to live safely at home, and scholarships for youth. A portion of the funds raised also helps provide services to children and families who have been victims of trauma in Israel.
The hundreds of community members and JFCS friends who attend this annual affair look forward to the wonderful food, music, dancing, and opportunity to support an organization that provides effective and compassionate assistance to those in need.
This gala is organized by the JFCS Émigré Gala Committee, which is comprised of leaders from the Bay Area émigré community. For information, contact Masha Gutkin at 415-449-1240 or MashaG@jfcs.org.

Hundreds of community leaders and JFCS friends will gather at the Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco for an annual event at which we honor members of our community who are making a difference through service and leadership--the Fammy Awards Gala.
The gala will feature a lively cocktail hour featuring hosted wine, specialty cocktails, and hors d’ oeuvres, plus a 150-item silent auction; a seated, three-course dinner with wine and dessert; a live band and dancing; several poignant videos that focus on JFCS' mission and pay tribute to the evening's honorees; and a dessert buffet featuring selections from some of San Francisco’s finest pastry chefs. Guests will leave with a wonderful appreciation gift, plus many happy memories of an evening celebrating the contributions of so many to JFCS' humanitarian work.
