Emergency Financial Assistance

During times of crisis, JFCS is here to help you find financial assistance through our own services, partner organizations, and government programs.

We offer short-term loans and grants to Jewish residents of the Bay Area to help them meet basic living expenses, such as food, housing, medical care, and other vital necessities. Every year thousands of families are given assistance to help them weather a personal or family crisis and get back on their feet. Our assistance does not stop there. As part of a comprehensive case-management plan, we work with individuals and families to create budgets and plans that help them to regain self-sufficiency.

“The financial assistance you provided, along with your counseling and support, have improved my financial future and given me stability. I’m grateful for your help!”
—Pamela A.

These seven individuals—Jared, Jeff, Gal, Allen, Linda, Cecelia, and David—have gotten back on their feet with the support of JFCS’ Emergency Family Assistance program.

Leadership funding is provided by the Taube Family Emergency Assistance Fund.  Other major funding is provided by the Koret Foundation, the Newton and Rochelle Becker Charitable Trust, and the Jewish Community Federation Newhouse Fund. Additional support is made possible through generous individual donors, endowed funds, and grants from foundations.
