Interviewing Your Home Care Attendant

Concentrate on asking open-ended questions. Avoid questions that can be answered "yes" or "no".

Questions To Ask During An Interview
  1. Can you tell me what experience you have had in a situation similar to this?

  2. Where have you worked before and what kind of things did you do?

  3. Do you have any emotional or physical problems that might hinder you in this job?

  4. How do you feel about cooking and eating what someone else wants? What foods have you prepared using your client's recipes?

  5. Will you be able to go back to sleep and feel rested if your sleep is disturbed at night?

  6. How do you handle a person who is angry?

  7. What makes you feel uncomfortable or angry?

  8. Can you give me an idea of how you might schedule the tasks to be done in this job?

  9. What would you do in an emergency such as ____________?

  10. Why did you leave your last job?

  11. Is there anything in this job you would not do?
