Common Symptoms of Food, Weight, and Body Image Issues

  1. Unable to control food intake at times.
  2. Feeling embarrassed or self-conscious about eating.
  3. Eating or picking at food without awareness.
  4. Sneaking food.
  5. Frequent thoughts about calories and fat grams.
  6. Overeating when distressed.
  7. Not eating when physically hungry, and eating when not physically hungry.
  8. Eating more or less than your body wants.
  9. Dieting and rigid eating patters ("good" and "bad" foods).
  10. Preoccupation with food and weight.
  11. Frequent weighing.
  12. Dissatisfied with weight, no matter what the number is.
  13. Feeling fat.
  14. Skipping meals in an attempt to control weight.
  15. Sensitive about comments regarding food and body.
  16. Comparing your body to other people?s bodies.
  17. Having your weight determine your self-esteem.
  18. May use diet pills, diuretics or laxatives for weight control.
  19. May use alcohol or drugs.
