 Teen Advisory Board

Our Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a great opportunity for teens that are interested in a meaningful volunteer opportunity to develop analytical and leadership skills. It is also a great opportunity for teens to share their ideas about current issues facing youth and to offer input on how YouthFirst can better serve their needs.

TAB requires an academic-year commitment, and its members meet 2 – 4 times a month to discuss current programs and facilitate upcoming projects. During the meetings, teens propose ideas for various projects that they would like to see initiated. The meetings and projects are initiated and carried out entirely by the teens, with some help from YouthFirst staff. Each member reports on his/her own subcommittee that focuses on a specific issue such as academic support, college admission preparation, social events, community service, etc.

In the past, members of TAB have:
  • Taken part in a leadership retreat that addressed issues of leadership skills and meeting facilitation.
  • Planned and implemented social events for Jewish holidays.
  • Spoken at JFCS board meetings to share their individual immigration stories.
  • Planned a variety of fundraisers in order to raise money for organizations members feel are in need.
  • Hosted a group of Israeli teens for a social and intellectual gathering of young leaders.
