YouthFirst offers positions for both summer and academic-year internships for exceptional tenth, eleventh and twelfth graders. Our internship programs are terrific opportunities for high-school students to gain valuable experience working in the various departments of Jewish Family and Children’s Services. Teens are placed in positions both at JFCS and in the San Francisco community. In addition to learning important job skills, interns also attend workshops that focus on a wide range of topics, including office etiquette and responsible work behavior, how to research job opportunities, résumé and cover letter writing, informational and general interviewing skills, the work of JFCS as a social service agency, diversity issues, values exploration and more.
The internship programs pay $9.36 per hour and require four to ten hours of work per week during the academic year and 20 hours per week during the summer. In addition to gaining important job skills, teens also gain greater clarity about academic and vocational options and opportunities available to them. The internship programs help teens gain a better understanding of the steps that need to be taken in order to achieve their career goals.
