Group & Workshop Leaders Counseling Parent Coaching and Consultation


Claire Marie Beery, MA, is a Parent Educator and the Program Coordinator for Parents Place, Sonoma County.
Claire has over 30 years’ experience providing education and consultation for families. She has an MA in Human Development with specialized training in Touchpoints, Early Childhood Mental Health, Post-Partum Mood Disorders, Childbirth Education, Lactation Consultation, and Perinatal Trauma. She teaches in the Child Development Department of Santa Rosa Junior College, the Child/Infant Mental Health Certificate Program at Sonoma State University, and the Academy for Coaching Parents International. She is the mother of three grown daughters.

Mary Hirsch, MFT, ATR, is a Clinical Counselor with Parents Place, Sonoma County.
Mary has over 20 years of clinical experience, receiving her MA from Loyola Marymount University in Art Therapy. Mary has expertise in helping to ensure a solid social/emotional foundation for preschool-aged children, emotionally disturbed children and adolescents.

Alissa Hirshfeld-Flores, MA MFT, is a Clinical Counselor with Parents Place, Sonoma County
Alissa has 15 years' experience working with children, adolescents, families, and individual adults. She received her BA from Harvard, where she subsequently worked at the Medical School researching causes and treatments for depressive disorders. She then received her MA from the California Institute of Integral Studies. She draws from an eclectic background of training, including psychodynamic theory, cognitive-behavioral techniques, mindfulness practices, and expressive arts. Her goal is to help clients to lead more authentic, fulfilling lives.

Barbara Joy, BA is a Parent Educator with Parents Place, Sonoma County.
Barbara has offered education, encouragement and insight to parents for 25 years. She has 15 years of experience as a nurse specializing in children with chronic and life- threatening illnesses. For the last 5 years Barbara has been teaching LifeBooks, a program to support and enhance bonding for families formed by adoption.

Ann Parsons, MA, is a Parent Educator with Parents Place, Sonoma County.
Ann has many year of experience providing parenting support to families. She specializes in positive discipline for the preschool years and in helping school-aged children become self-motivated and enthusiastic learners through developing good study habits.

Myra Polikoff, MFT, is a Parent Educator with Parents Place, Sonoma County.
Myra has over 15 years' experience working with individuals, couples and families. Her expertise includes helping people of all ages heal from trauma, including sexual abuse, and educating parents in laying the foundation for their children’s healthy relationship to their own bodies and sexuality.

Bonnie Romanow is a Parent Educator with Parents Place, Sonoma County.
Bonnie has worked with children and families for nearly 20 years. Trained as a Waldorf teacher and group facilitator, she has been an early childhood teacher, preschool director and founding member of the Great Oaks School in the Chicago area. Her work with children under 3 and their parents led her to Touchpoints work as well as the Resources for Infant Educarers (RIE I) training program. She served on the governing body of the Chicago Waldorf School and the Great Oaks School and as secretary for Preschool Council of Evanston. Bonnie worked with at-risk teens for the Youth-At-Risk community program, as well as with birth parents and adoptive parents. Parent education and support has always been a part of her work.

Amy McIntyre, MA, is a Parent Educator for Parents Place, Sonoma County.
Amy has worked with young children and their families for over 30 years. She has an MA in Education with an emphasis on early childhood and counseling. She is the founder and director of Childkind Preschool and operates three programs for children ages 2 – 12. She is the adoptive mother of two lovely daughters.

For over ten years Tim has been helping adults and children create success and happiness in their lives through understanding and effective cooperation among family members.
