Family Resources Summary
Family Resources is a community-based program that strengthens our community
by increasing awareness of existing services that meet family needs, a
prerequisite to resource utilization, and by building personal connections
across the community's diverse constituents. Several innovative approaches
were designed to achieve these goals.
- A Searchable Website with ~600 resources, information in four foreign languages, and personal photo / message introductions to members of the community, service providers, and different ethnic groups.
- Desktop Kiosks of Information placed throughout the community to provide an easily viewable hard-copy presentation of selected resources from the Family Resources website for the many situations where internet access is not possible or appropriate. Each Kiosk is supported by an Ambassador.
- Ambassador Development Program, a person-to-person community-building component, makes information and connections meaningful and effective through personalization and cultural adaptations. Ambassadors increase the likelihood of reaching isolated individuals and those out of the mainstream of information exchange.
- The Family Resources Hub serves as a central office for all Family Resources activities. The hub provides the opportunity for individual discussion with a resource specialist, access to the internet, and hard copy information for taking.
