Biography Dad spent his childhood in a small farming community with many brothers and sisters where he was raised with a strong work ethic and an appreciation of a good education. In 1938 Mom and Dad married and began their family. Our lives were filled with farm chores, love and laughter. Dad was passionate about farming and teaching - taking care of God's earth. He was centered by his family and a man of deep faith. His tenor voice could be heard over the entire congregation and from the barn to the house demanding more workers. In everything he did, there was education at the core. "Teaching and learning are essential to the improvement of God's world," he would say. After 7 years of battling cancer, Dad died in a hospital bed surrounded by his family (he was in the center, the way he liked it) singing "Happy Birthday" marking the beginning of his 67th year and the end of his life. His heritage of family, passion and education lives on through our children. Creators of the Fund The Nurturing Families Fund was established by Robert's son and family.
