Purpose of the Fund The purpose of The Nurturing Families Fund is to support the efforts of Parents Place in San Francisco. Dad was a vivacious man, who was loved by many in the community for his dedication to education and his spirit for living. He was a hard working man and approached everything he did with gusto. |
Biography
Dad spent his childhood in a small farming community with many brothers and sisters where he was raised with a strong work ethic and an appreciation of a good education. In 1938 Mom and Dad married and began their family. Our lives were filled with farm chores, love and laughter. Dad was passionate about farming and teaching - taking care of God's earth. He was centered by his family and a man of deep faith. His tenor voice could be heard over the entire congregation and from the barn to the house demanding more workers. In everything he did, there was education at the core. "Teaching and learning are essential to the improvement of God's world," he would say. After 7 years of battling cancer, Dad died in a hospital bed surrounded by his family (he was in the center, the way he liked it) singing "Happy Birthday" marking the beginning of his 67th year and the end of his life. His heritage of family, passion and education lives on through our children.
