Purpose of the Fund

The purpose of the Segal Family Memorial Fund is to provide comprehensive and compassionate services for those who, unlike the grantor's own family, survived the Holocaust, offering direct financial and emotional support to victims now living in the Bay Area.

Biography
Marin-based Marion Weinreb, the child of Holocaust survivors and a consultant for the pharmaceutical and medical device industries, is a firm believer in "giving back." She does this in a variety of ways, including through her Named Continuity Funds at JFCS.

Marion set up her third Fund in Spring 1997 as a living memorial to her mother's family. Dina Segal's parents, brothers and sisters, grandparents and cousins all perished in the Holocaust, leaving her as the only survivor of her immediate family. Although Dina was able to successfully rebuild her life in the United States after being liberated from Auschwitz, she never forgot those dear to her and passed on her love and her memories to her daughter, Marion.

The Segal Family Memorial Fund now helps ease the suffering of other survivors like Dina, providing home care, counseling, housing assistance and other critical services as needed.
