Purpose of the Fund

The purpose of the Boris Albinder Memorial Fund is to provide scholarship assistance for youth of high school age and older to pursue their passions in sports, dance or other areas of personal interest.

Biography
When Boris Albinder, age 19, was stabbed to death on September 16, 2006 when he came to the aid of a friend engaged in a dispute over a parking space outside a San Francisco night club, he left behind a host of friends and family to mourn his passing. Born on December 29, 1986 in Kishenev, Moldavia, Boris and his family had emigrated to the U.S. in 1988. Although he had tragically lost both his younger sister and his father, Boris' friends remember him as outgoing and warm-hearted, with a wonderful sense of humor.

Boris was a member of the San Francisco Boy's Chorus as a youngster and performed throughout the world, including in Israel and Russia, with the Lysaya Dance Ensemble. He played the piano and enjoyed swimming and water polo. While attending high school at St. Ignatius Preparatory he competed on the school's water polo and swim teams, and worked as a lab helper for UCSF scientists engaged in early stem cell research. A Skyline College student at the time of his death, Boris served as a biology lab assistant while majoring in business with a goal of pursuing a career in international relations.

Although Boris' own dreams were ended far too soon, his values and spirit will live on forever through this Named Continuity Fund lovingly created in his memory.
